Interview for Astronomer and Science Communicator

Duration: 25 minutes
During this interview we will ask you complete a task: we would like you to find the most appropriate way to present to us a topic of your choosing that you are passionate about. It could be about astronomy, or it could be about a hobby or personal interest you have. You will have 3 minutes to deliver your presentation. You can use slides, props, interpretive dance, you choose.
Following your presentation, we may ask you a range of questions.
Questions
– Storytelling is a big part of what we do — can you give us an example / or can you think of how you might turn a challenging concept into a compelling story?
– If a guest asked you about astrology, how would you respond in a respectful but scientifically accurate way?
– Tell us about a situation where things didn’t go your way and how you handled it.
– Where do you see Kielder Observatory in five years, what are our opportunities? 

– What is your favourite thing to do outside astronomy?
– Why do you think astronomy matters to the public today, and how can we inspire wonder in an age full of distractions?
– We run over 1000 events a year across 2 locations, and beyond. Often late at night in remote locations in all weather. How would you manage your energy and wellbeing in that environment?
